| | | About ASK Welcome to Alphabet Soup Kids (ASK).
Alphabet Soup Kids -A.S.K. was co-founded by family members of children/young adults who suffer from a multitude of behavioral/mental health illnesses or often times referred to as “Alphabet Soup”! The co-founders of this group are Toni Hoy-Chicago, Janine Brooks-Omaha, Mary Thunker-Omaha and Jen Genzler-Omaha.
Through our years of struggling with the system to get the proper/most effective care we have learned that it is our “VOICES” that give us the strength to continue the battles, support each other and educate others to hopefully make this path a little easier and less stressful. We are based in Omaha, NE but have members currently from Nebraska, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, South Dakota and Texas.
We are striving to meet the needs of families across the country by adding content and contact information for each state. We will try to post information that is current for each state and ask that if you have information to share or know of contacts please contact us! We also ask for your patience as we grow and build this website to be exactly what we all want and need it to be.
From the very beginning of A.S.K. a Family Support Group was established here in Omaha with a NAMI trained facilitator! This group has now been meeting on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s since late October with much success! This group goes by the name of S.P.E.A.K. and is Chaired by Connie Hammitt-Omaha. We do have a page dedicated to this group and it will be administered by her, so watch for additional information on this page as well.
We encourage anyone who is dealing with Mental/Behavioral illness in a child/young adult to please register on our website and become a part of a fast growing and hard working group of other families helping families.
